2016 Fundraiser

2016 Group

On May 21, 2016, members of Gamma Mu Boule, Phoenix, turned out in masse to support the third annual Gamma Mu Educational Services, Inc. (GMES) Golf Fundraiser. This year’s event attracted 125 golf enthusiasts from across the Valley of the Sun and took place at the Grayhawk Golf Club Talon Course, located in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Talon Course is one of the most exciting and dramatic tests of golf in the Southwest. It provides splendid views of the nearby McDowell Mountains as well as the Phoenix/ Scottsdale skyline. The festivities included a four-person scramble, skins contest, hole-in-one contest, putting contest, and an awards luncheon and reception.

Archon Lee Topps was charged with leading and coordinating this year’s fundraiser. It was a huge success due to the hard work and tremendous efforts of the entire Gamma Mu Boule. We exceeded last year’s goal and raised approximately $70,000. A large portion of the revenue came from our corporate sponsorships, which included Grand Canyon University, American Airlines, Sam’s Club, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, Arizona State University Foundation, Superstition Springs Auto Dealership, Cox, and a host of other local businesses. One of the more notable guests was LPGA Tour Player McKenzie Lyng. She hosted the “Beat the Pro Challenge” at one of the course holes during the tournament. In addition, she shared stories about life on tour, and gave insight on best practice routines.

Proceeds generated from the event, will enable GMES continue to expand and develop social action programs, whose mission is to help success oriented young men and boys attain the upper levels of professional and personal achievement. In addition, the proceeds will help GMES continue to fund its Pathways to Excellence Program, which is a blended partnership between Gamma Mu Boule, the Arizona Community Foundation and other similarly focused groups in the Phoenix metropolitan area.

The efforts of our lovely Archousai could not go unnoticed, as they helped welcome the participants, facilitate the raffle contests and assist in managing the prizes and awards. After the tournament was completed, contestants were treated to an appetizing lunch buffet.

2015 Fundraiser

2015 Golf GroupOn April 18, 2015, for the second consecutive year, 122 golfers participated in the annual Gamma Mu Educational Services (GMES) golf fundraiser.  GMES is the 501c3 non-profit philanthropic organization of Gamma Mu Boule.

Proceeds from the event, will help us expand and develop our social action programs, whose mission is focusing on leadership development activities, fostering academic success, and ensuring a commitment to community service.  The fundraiser was held at the stunning, multi-award winning SunRidge Canyon Golf Club in Fountain Hills, AZ.  The course was built in the canyons of the beautiful Scottsdale McDowell Mountains.  Immediate Past Sire Archon of Gamma Mu, Karl Gentles was charged with leading the golf fundraising event as the chairman.

This year the committee set a net revenue goal of $50,000, which was $20,000 more than last year’s goal.  With the hard work and tremendous efforts of the entire Gamma Mu Boule, we exceeded last year’s revenue and profited about $41,000. A large portion of the revenue was from our corporate sponsorships, which included Grand Canyon University, Arizona State University, Morgan Stanley, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, Visp Group, CopperPoint Mutual Insurance Company, and Milchak Consulting.

There were several contests including hole-in-one, closet to the pin, and a skins contest in which Gamma Mu’s own Archon Larry Leverette’ s team won and collected a $1000 cash prize. The raffle prizes donated consisted of an IPAD mini, a luxury suite at the AZ Diamondbacks stadium, gift cards, and an autographed football by Gale Sayers.

The efforts of our lovely Archousai could not go unnoticed, as they helped welcome the participants, facilitate the raffle contests and assist in managing the prizes and awards.  After the tournament was finished participants were treated to a sumptuous barbeque lunch buffet.

2014 Fundraiser

2014_kidsOn Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Superstition Springs Golf Resort in Mesa, Arizona, Gamma Mu held its “Inaugural Fundraiser for Gamma Mu Educational Services.”  Gamma Mu Educational Services (GMES) is a non-profit entity of Gamma Mu Boule’.   Funds from this event will be used to support the programs of Gamma Mu Educational Services (GMES) whose mission is to provide leadership development and mentoring for young boys and men in the Metro-Phoenix area.

Under the leadership of Committee Chair Archon Ray Burden, the golf tournament proved to be incredibly successful, with net proceeds exceeding $40,000 – far exceeding the original goal of $30,000.  A significant portion of the proceeds were raised through corporate sponsorships including companies and organizations such as: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, Morgan Stanley, Arizona State University, CopperPoint Mutual and Grand Canyon University.

While Archon Burden provided the overall leadership for the event he reached out to a number of Gamma Mu Archons to make up his winning team: Tim Woods – operations, Don Bland – sponsorships, John Harris – contests, Kenny Harris – volunteers, Kevin Robinson – donations, and Larry Leverett – tournament advisor.  The tournament also received the full support of the Archousai of Gamma Mu who assisted in a number of areas including serving as welcome ambassadors and managing the prizes and awards.  Additionally, Gamma Mu was pleased that several youth groups from the Valley attended and served as volunteers at the golf tournament. See photo gallery here.
