Thanks to your continued generous support, Gamma Mu Educational Services, Inc. is proud to announce the awarding and distribution of $75,000 in grants and donations for the 2020 plan year.

The mission of Gamma Mu Educational Services, Inc. (GMES) is to provide and support programs that focus on the positive development of young people with a special emphasis on boys and young men.  Collectively these programs are designed to empower them with knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to build confidence and foster personal and professional achievement in the class room and community.  Your past support of GMES and our golf tournament fundraiser has positively impacted the lives of over 800 boys and young men who have participated in GMES supported programsover the years.  Thank you for your continued support of this mission.

The following organizations were recipients of funding grants for the 2020 year.

African American Men of Arizona State University (AAMASU)

The mission of AAMASU is to engage in early outreach initiatives to prepare African American males for university entrance, retention and graduation.  This is accomplished through peer support, cultural awareness programs and increased exposure of students to educational and professional relationships outside of the university to enhance the collegiate experience.

Omega Youth Leadership Academy (OYLA)

OYLA is an organization that primarily focuses on the development of young males 5th–12th grades.   OYLA is a comprehensive community based youth development program designed to effectively empower and educate males of color to realize their academic and personal potential. Programming involves a measurable out of school academic enrichment curriculum that takes place through bi-monthly culturally competent interactive seminars and workshops including youth designed community service-learning projects.

Kappa LeagueGuide Right Program

Programs designed to aid young men of high school age to grow and develop their leadership talents in every phase of life; home, school, community and career. “Guide Right”  specific areas of  focus include fostering curiosity and comprehension in Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM); assisting Kappa League participants with resources and tools for academic excellence; teaching responsibilities of manhood and fostering appreciation of history, culture and community engagement.

Project Alpha

A leadership development and mentoring program targeting young men.  Program participants meet monthly for interactive sessions focused on skill building, problem solving, conflict management and social skills.  Participants also engage in cultural awareness activities and civic improvement projects inthe local communities.

In addition to these organizational funding grants, GMES continues to sponsor the “Provost Speakers Series” program at Grand Canyon University and the “Arizona Living History Program”.  Both these programs include both funding and the active participation of GMES/Boule members, all of whom are accomplished successful business and professional leaders.  The men and women of GMES provided over 600 hours of volunteer service time in 2019.

Entering into our eighth year of service we are proud of what we have accomplished with your help.

  • Over 800 boys and young men have participated in structured GMES supported development programs.
  • Disbursed over $300,000 in grants to partner organizations.

2020 GMES Fundraiser Cancellation Letter

March 24, 2020

Dear Valued Supporter:

The Board of Directors of Gamma Mu Educational Services, Inc. has been
continuously monitoring the situation with regard to the COVID-19 virus.
As the conditions, warnings and mandates continue to escalate and out of
an abundance of caution for our supporters, patrons and members, we have
decided to cancel the upcoming fundraising golf tournament scheduled for
May 2, 2020, at Grayhawk Golf Club. This was a difficult decision
knowing the impact that it will have on our ability to maintain our
programming and support for young people of our community. We did
consider a postponement; however, given the uncertainly still facing us
over the coming months we decided cancellation was the most prudent
option.

Our thanks to the sponsors and supporters who have already made
contributions or pledged financial support for the 2020 fundraiser. The
annual fundraising golf tournament is the singular major “fundraising
event’ of the year for GMES. While the event itself is cancelled, the
programs that are supported by the funding continue, and in some cases
become even more critical. We continue to gratefully appreciate any
financial support you are able to provide. www.gmes.org

We will communicate further over the coming months with updates on our
programs and other opportunities to donate or support Gamma Mu
Educational Services, Inc. In the meantime, we encourage everyone to
conduct themselves with great care and abide by guidance being provided
from the CDC and local authorities.

Thank you for your continued support and your patience.
