2016 Fundraiser

2016 Group

On May 21, 2016, members of Gamma Mu Boule, Phoenix, turned out in masse to support the third annual Gamma Mu Educational Services, Inc. (GMES) Golf Fundraiser. This year’s event attracted 125 golf enthusiasts from across the Valley of the Sun and took place at the Grayhawk Golf Club Talon Course, located in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Talon Course is one of the most exciting and dramatic tests of golf in the Southwest. It provides splendid views of the nearby McDowell Mountains as well as the Phoenix/ Scottsdale skyline. The festivities included a four-person scramble, skins contest, hole-in-one contest, putting contest, and an awards luncheon and reception.

Archon Lee Topps was charged with leading and coordinating this year’s fundraiser. It was a huge success due to the hard work and tremendous efforts of the entire Gamma Mu Boule. We exceeded last year’s goal and raised approximately $70,000. A large portion of the revenue came from our corporate sponsorships, which included Grand Canyon University, American Airlines, Sam’s Club, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, Arizona State University Foundation, Superstition Springs Auto Dealership, Cox, and a host of other local businesses. One of the more notable guests was LPGA Tour Player McKenzie Lyng. She hosted the “Beat the Pro Challenge” at one of the course holes during the tournament. In addition, she shared stories about life on tour, and gave insight on best practice routines.

Proceeds generated from the event, will enable GMES, Inc. continue to expand and develop social action programs, whose mission is to help success oriented young men and boys attain the upper levels of professional and personal achievement. In addition, the proceeds will help GMES, Inc. continue to fund its Pathways to Excellence Program, which is a blended partnership between Gamma Mu Boule, the Arizona Community Foundation and other similarly focused groups in the Phoenix metropolitan area.

The efforts of our lovely Archousai could not go unnoticed, as they helped welcome the participants, facilitate the raffle contests and assist in managing the prizes and awards. After the tournament was completed, contestants were treated to an appetizing lunch buffet.
